Welcome to FIDS!
BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS
The Forum of Independent Day Schools (FIDS) was set up to promote and support Independent Day Schools.
Schools within FIDS have a distinctive and easily recognized ethos based on long traditions of aspiration and high achievement. They offer an academically challenging curriculum from 11 to 18 and achieve high standards in extra-curricular activities, pastoral care and pupil behaviour. Our main aim is to explore imaginative solutions to improve social mobility and widen access.
Part of the FIDS approach has been to seek contact with political leaders and to ensure that the case for independent day schools as an important part of national education is recognized. Many FIDS schools were former Direct Grant Schools and users of the Assisted Places System. We would like to see further productive links between the independent and state sectors.
